If you have unsearchable PDFs you want to make searchable follow the steps below. Once you've converted a file and made it searchable you will not have to do it again. This is a once-per-file process.
- Move the file you need to make searchable into the Temp folder on your desktop
- Right-click the file -> Edit with Foxit PDF Editor
- Navigate to the "Convert" tab at the top
- "Recognize Text" -> "Current File"
- If you need to do multiple files select "Multiple Files" instead -> "Add files..." -> "Add files.." again -> Select all of the files you want to convert -> Click "OK"
- Make sure the settings are the same as the image below (should be the default settings)
- Click OK, it will take a while for it to run
- Once it's done if you want to confirm it worked
- Navigate to the "View" tab at the top
- Click "Text Viewer" to see the text. You can click the arrows at the bottom of the page to check individual pages.
- Click "Text Viewer" again to revert back to the normal PDF
