Gmail automatically identifies spam (unwanted marketing emails) and sends them to Spam. You can mark or unmark messages, and as you report more spam, Gmail is better able to automatically identify similar messages as spam in the future.

  1. Select one or more emails inside GMail.
  2. Click Report spam Report spam.

When you click Report spam Report spam or manually move an email into your Spam folder, Google will receive a copy of the email and may analyze it to help protect our users from spam and abuse.

Similarly, you can specifically mark emails as phishing (fraud attempts):

  1. Open the message in Gmail
  2. Next to Reply, click More
  3. Click Report Phishing
