Windows keeps several previous versions of all files and folders on your computer. These can be used to restore a file or folder to an older version.
To restore a missing file or folder
1. In windows explorer, right click on the folder that should contain the file. If the entire folder is gone, find the folder one level up that should contain the missing and right click on that. Goto properties, then Previous versions
2. It will take a moment for the content to load, but then you will see all the previous versions of the folder listed, along with time stamps.
3. Select the folder you'd like to restore. You can click the "Open" button to get a quick preview of the files stored in that backup. You can copy from this preview, so if you find the file you're looking for, simply copy it and then paste it back in it's normal location
4. If you'd like to restore the whole folder, select the date entry and click "Restore"
Please note: This will restore the entire contents of the folder, which could cause other files in the folder to get rolled back to previous version. Be sure you back up other files within the same folder to another location, otherwise, they will get overwritten with earlier versions of themselves.
