Our network is set up a little differently than you might be accustomed to.  Instead of just a "network name" and "password", you will need to select the "network name", and then your computer/phone/device will prompt you for a username & password. This will get you on the proper secure network.  Here's how to do that:  

Note - Amazon Alexa devices don't seem to be supported except via an Amazon for Business account - see this article for more information.  Alexa devices would have to be wired otherwise

Windows 10


If you already have a Guest network connected (or you previously tried to connect to the corporate network and it didn't work for some reason), you'll want to "forget" that so your computer doesn't fall back to that.


How to forget a wireless network for Windows 10

An important step in troubleshooting wireless network issues is to isolate and remove any potential conflicts. These steps will show you how to delete a wireless network profile in Windows 10:*

 

  1. Click the Network icon on the lower right corner of your screen.
  2. Click Network settings.
  3. Click Manage Wi-Fi settings.
  4. Under Manage known networks, click the network you want to delete.
  5. Click Forget. The wireless network profile is deleted.

Setting up WPA (802.1x authentication) for Windows 10

  1. From the desktop, right-click on the wireless icon on the bottom right corner of your desktop.  Select Open Network and Sharing Center. In the example below UWSPWireless is a sample network name you will want to insert the name of the network you wish to connect to in its place.

  2. If you are on a surface or have other difficulties accessing the Network and Sharing center, Open up your Control panel and access it there. 
  3. In the Network and Sharing Center, select Setup a new connection or network.

  4. Select Manually connect to a new network.

  5. Enter the information for the  wireless network as shown below and click Next.
    • Network Name: Name of the network you want to connect to will go here. (Network name, not username)
    • Security Type:  WPA2-Enterprise
    • Encryption Type:  AES
  6. Click the Change connection settings box.

  7. Click on the Security Tab on the top of the window.

  8. Change the Choose a network authentication method to be Microsoft: Protected EAP (PEAP) and choose Settings.

  9. Uncheck the Validate server certificate box and click Configure

  10. Uncheck the Automatically use my Windows logon name and password (and domain if any) box, and click OK.

  11. Click OK again.
  12. Click the Advanced Settings button.

  13. On the 802.1x settings tab check the Specify authentication mode and set the mode to User Authentication.

  14. Click OK and Close the settings window.
  15. Left click on the wireless symbol on the bottom right hand corner to bring up the Networks menu.
  16. Select and connect to the network from the prior step.
  17. A prompt should appear to sign in. Type your username and password.
     

Windows 11

How to forget a wireless network for Windows 11

  1. Right click on the network icon in the bottom right of your taskbar
  2. Select Network and Internet Settings
  3. Select Wi-Fi
  4. Select Manage known networks
  5. Select Forget on the wireless network required


Setting up WPA (802.1x authentication) for Windows 11

  1. Select Windows Icon on either your taskbar (at the bottom of your screen) or on your keyboard and start typing "Control Panel" then press ENTER
  2. Select "Network and Internet" then "Network and Sharing Center"\Graphical user interface, text, application

  3. In the Network and Sharing Center, select Setup a new connection or network.

  4. Select Manually connect to a new network.
  5. Enter the information for the wireless network as shown below and click Next.

    3. Encryption Type:  AES
  6. Click the Change connection settings box.

  7. Click on the Security Tab on the top of the window.

Mac

If you already have a Guest network connected, you'll want to "forget" that so your computer doesn't fall back to that.

  1. Choose Apple menu  > System Preferences, then click Network.
  2. Select Wi-Fi in the list on the left.
  3. Click the Advanced button.
  4. The Wi-Fi pane shows a Preferred Networks list. Select the Wi-Fi network that you want your Mac to forget.
  5. Click the remove button (–) beneath the list. If you're asked to confirm, click Remove.
  6. Click OK.
  7. Click Apply.


When you select the network name, you'll get the following:

You'll also get a certificate error - you can check "Always trust"

Android

  • EAP method: PEAP
  • Phase 2 authentication: MSCHAPV2
    1. CA certificate: "Do not validate"
    2. Identity: username for network
    3. Password: password for network



Chromebook

  1. At the bottom right, select the time.
  2. Select Settings Settings.
  3. Under "Network," select Add connection and then Add Wi-Fi and then Advanced.
  4. Enter your network information following the Android model above.
  5. Select Connect.


Linux (this has also worked with Brother printers)

  1. Authentication: PEAP

  2. Inner authentication: MSCHAPV2

  3. Username: network username

  4. Password: network password
