Adding a Wifi network via custom template

  • All you need to do is add the wifi network to the custom template and reprovision

  • It is only compatible with 2.4Ghz networks at this point

  • If any of the settings below are different than your WiFi network then manually add the network in the phone's UI and you'll be able to look at the descriptions for each field to see what you need to change for a cipher type or security mode.

  • To check if the wifi network added successfully login to the phone UI and go to Network>WiFi and you should see the network you added in the custom template.

##Wifi Network
#wifi.enable = 0
#wifi.1.label = Pinnacle
#wifi.1.ssid = MYSSID
#wifi.1.security_mode = WPA2-PSK
#wifi.1.cipher_type = CCMP
#wifi.1.password = PASSWORD
#wifi.1.priority = 1

Configuring WiFi Adapter

  • Once you've added a WiFi network simply plug the WiFi adapter into the USB port on the back of the phone. It should automatically turn WiFi on and connect to the configured network.

  • If the adapter doesn't automatically turn WiFi on then login to the phone UI Network>WiFi and set the status to enabled or active.

  • You should see a WiFi symbol appear at the top of the screen indicating that the WiFi adapter is active and connected. It will show the WiFi symbol with an X if it's active but not connected.

Manually Configuring WiFi Adapter

  • Confirm the SSID and password (by removing from a cell phone and readding to confirm, if necessary)
  • Confirm that the SSID is not hidden, and that it's available on 2.4 GHz (if you're using a WF40)
  • Insert the Wi-Fi USB Dongle WF40 into the USB port on the back of the T48 phone when the phone is in the idle state.
  • The touch screen will prompt: "Wi-Fi adapter connected. Scan for available Wi-Fi networks?"  Tap the OK button. The IP phone will toggle the Wi-Fi to on and search for available wireless networks in your area.
    • When the scan is completed, you will see a Scan soft key on the screen; this can be pressed to re-scan available Wi-Fi networks.
